Rules:
The Operating Rules of the STAR Network including all appendices, operating procedures, Technical Specifications and functional design standards, as amended from time to time by STAR.

Reversal
Reversal:
The electronic message which serves to cancel all or part of a previously authorized STAR Transaction.
Retrieval Request
Retrieval Request:
A request by the issuer to the acquirer for a copy of the actual ticket of a transaction. The initial step that the issuer takes in the event that either the issuer or the cardholder disputes a transaction.
Retention Period
Retention Period:
The minimum time the member must retain microfilm or other reproduction of interchange paper and chargeback documentation.
Retail ID Authentication Program
Retail ID Authentication Program:
An Authentication Program supported by the STAR Network for STAR Internet Transactions whereby the Account Holder initiates STAR Internet Transactions using an Authentication Token that is issued and authenticated by a STAR Network-approved third party on behalf of the Acquirer Member.
Resubmission
Resubmission:
All electronic submissions, other than the Original Submission, of a STAR POS Transaction that has been authorized by a STAR Merchant or Acquirer Processor pursuant to the provisions contained in these Rules. A Resubmission does not contain a PIN.
Response Time
Response Time:
The time that elapses between the transmission of a request for Authorization of a STAR Transaction by the STAR Switch to an Issuer Processor and receipt of a response by the STAR Switch from the Issuer Processor.
Representment
Representment:
A transaction presented to the issuer by the acquirer, when the merchant requests a reversal of a chargeback.
Rental Agreement
Rental Agreement:
A detailed contract with the cardholder indicating all charges the cardholder is responsible for.
Remittance Processing Service
Remittance Processing Service:
An electronic routing and settlement service that accepts previously captured and authorized payment transactions from members for delivery to other financial institutions.
